Awarded by the Union Internationale des Concierges d’Hôtels, the Golden Keys (Les Clefs d’Or) are a recognition reserved exclusively for professionals who demonstrate exceptional knowledge, absolute discretion, and the ability to exceed any guest expectations.
This distinction is not easily granted. Candidates must demonstrate an impeccable track record in the industry, be recommended by current members of the organization, and undergo a rigorous evaluation process that includes interviews, continuous training, and the ability to solve complex challenges with creativity and efficiency. Only the best concierges in the world receive this honor, becoming ambassadors of hotel excellence.

Les Clefs d’Or is the prestigious International Association of Hotel Concierges, with over 4,000 members worldwide, and the Spanish section, “Las Llaves de Oro Españolas,” is presided over by the concierge of our hotel in Mallorca.
The main role of hotel concierges is to welcome, receive, and ensure the quality of guests’ stays. Their knowledge, experience, and contacts make them expert advisors and true ambassadors of each city. Focused on customer service, concierges attend to and respond to guests’ requests in a professional and discreet manner. They are responsible for tourist information, restaurant reservations, car rentals, tours, and more.
Concierges are easily identifiable thanks to the crossed Golden Keys logo they wear on their lapels. Additionally, they have a concierge desk or table in the hotel lobby, either separate or shared with reception, with clear identification.
An exclusive distinction that rewards quality and service
The association known as Les Clefs d’Or (or “The Golden Keys”) is an international organization of luxury hotel concierges, founded in France in 1952. Its name, which means “The Golden Keys,” refers to the iconic golden crossed key badges worn on the lapels of its members’ uniforms. These keys symbolize the dedication and special skill of concierges in opening doors (both literally and figuratively) and fulfilling guests’ requests.
From 1953 until the creation of the Professional Association in Spain in 1962, the best national concierges were part of the French structure.
In April of the same year, during the International Congress in Copenhagen, the Spanish association was admitted to the U.I.P.G.H. and succeeded in having Madrid host the international congress in 1965.
The creation of Les Clefs d’Or aimed to improve concierge service standards, promote camaraderie among industry professionals, and offer exceptional service in the hospitality industry. Since its founding, the association has grown significantly and now has a presence in over 80 countries, with thousands of members operating in the world’s most prestigious hotels.
Every year, Les Clefs d’Or organizes international meetings and congresses where concierges exchange knowledge, share experiences, and keep their skills updated to meet new guest demands. The organization’s mission remains the same: to provide excellence, discretion, and professionalism in service to guests.
