ROUTE OF THE SENSES

Explore the best corner of Spain in 2015 and enter the stage of the internationally celebrated TV series Game of Thrones.

Declared a Natural Monument in 1996 due to the great proliferation of granite bolos.

We will immerse ourselves in a Neolithic town, where we can see paintings and rock engravings. Large rocks with very curious shapes, like the rocks of the treasure, the rock of the snail or the rock of the shark …

We will explore the remains of a Roman villa, as well as a set of anthropomorphic tombs carved into the rock. Biosphere Reserve

The Monfragüe National Park is located in the province of Cáceres, declared a natural park on April 4, 1979

Crossed by the river Tiétar and the Tagus, it has the widest and best-kept fauna and flora of the Mediterranean mountains worldwide.

In it some 290 species coexist, of which 190 are birds. Some as relevant as the black vulture, black stork, Iberian imperial eagle, Egyptian vulture, peregrine falcon to which you can easily see them in the park.

A beautiful itinerary through the forest of Umbria until you reach the castle built by the Arabs, from where you can contemplate the wonderful views of the park and its meadows. We will continue through the forest of sunny towards the jump of the gypsy to observe the great colony of griffon vulture and listen to the legends that tell about the great rock.

Guided Route TAJO NATURAL NATURAL PARK

ROUTE BY THE RIVER TAJO SHORE. HISTORY, BOTANY AND BIRD OBSERVATION

It is the First International Natural Park of Spain, was named as such in 2006. It was also declared a cross-border biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 2016.

Located in the southwest of the province of Cáceres, adjacent to Portugal, and to him they contribute surface the municipal terms of Alcántara, Brozas, Carbajo, Cedillo, Herrera de Alcántara, Membrío, Salorino, Herreruela, Santiago de Alcántara, Valencia de Alcántara and Zarza la Higher.

The fluvial course of the Tajo river that serves as the natural border between Spain and Portugal, divides an area of identical characteristics between both countries, with an extension of 25,088ha to the Spanish part. An area of riberos where the Mediterranean forest is in its natural state, without any modification by man.

A beautiful route along the riberos, following the shore of the Tagus River. We will pay special attention to the plants, since this park has a great botanical biodiversity, reaching in some places almost forty species among trees and shrubs. Some endemic species such as yellow lily and green serape, a type of orchid in danger of extinction. Throughout the route the views are spectacular, with several viewpoints.

Habitat of majestic birds, some of them in danger of extinction, such as: the Iberian Imperial eagle, Bonelli’s eagle, golden eagle, booted eagle, Egyptian vulture, black stork … Some such as the kingfisher, oriole, jay, Sardinian warbler easily observable at our pace.

At the end of the route we will observe a large colony of griffon vultures.

Medieval Trujillo

The city of Trujillo is located 564 meters above sea level, with its natural borders of the river basins of the Tajo and Guadiana rivers and surrounded by more than two hundred dehesas that make up the second most extensive municipal area of the province of Cáceres (irrigated by the Almonte river and its tributaries).
